I really enjoyed this story, I loved all the characters, especially Rachel and Clint and Ma...loved the small town feel, I'm a country girl too so I loved the descriptions the author described. I thought Seth was a complete asshole loser and I'm glad he got what he deserved. Clint is a sexy as hell cowboy (love cowboy stories) him and Rachel are perfect for each other and hot as hell in bed, wow! Love their relationship too so loving and Ma well she's awesome, sweet, loving and so is Clint's brother and sister, love that they all welcomed Rachel with open arms. Great story. Super sexy and loving and awesome. 4.5 stars review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com Goodbye Girl started off as a sweet little love story, girl running from a past. Meets a guy in a diner. As time goes on, the sweetness kind of goes away. I re-read Goodbye Girl without realizing it until the very end and something finally clicked and I went back and checked. Yes, I liked it. It was a good book, but honestly, I liked it better the first time around when I read it. Rachel was running from a past. An abusive, drug dealing boyfriend. She drives across country from New York (usually people are driving to NY from small towns LOL) but she comes across a small town diner and decides to land for the night. Then she notices him. Clint. The sexy bachelor cowboy, with a past of his own. Clint, runs the family ranch and notices her in the diner also. On his way out, he introduces himself to Rachel and that is where the sparks fly between the two. Instant love connection between the two. Yes, love at first sight. They have the complete quick love affair when he offers her a job, she lives on the ranch with him, and the are instantly thrown together in a family/love life. Then Rachel's past comes screeching back in and interrupts the happy times and threatens it when he kidnaps her, threatens to do awful things to her, and kill her cowboy and his family. She plans to give up her happily ever after to save them, but Clint refuses to let her go (awwww----how sweet!!! I want a cowboy like that!) Now I am all for the hot romance between two characters and all, but there was no build up. No backstory of Clint and why he was so clingy to not let her go really, yes he had been hurt. But I wanted to know more about him. And I wanted to know more about Rachel. I felt like this time around when I read this book it felt like the book was rushed and more detail could have been added. And honestly, I have to give this book 3.5 stars. Not because I read it twice. But because of the details that could have been added to make it more interesting to the readers and capture their hearts.
What do You think about Goodbye Girl (2000)?
It could have been a good book if it were better written.
