Handcuffs And Spreader Bars (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
I really enjoyed Harland and his dominating personality and love of spreader bars.I thought it was a bit strange how the Rawlings family knew that he was flirting because of the comment about the twisted sense of humor. I didn't really see him express much of a sense of humor at all.The past bad relationship wasn't really explored that much, but he healing was shown somewhat decently. I have to admit, there were parts of this Rawlings Men story that I wasn't particularly fond of. With Alasdair having been abused in the past in the manner he was, having Harland chain him up, put him in spreader bars, then border-line threaten to walk away and leave him like that just kind of ticked me off. This, *after* Harland was told about Alasdair's regretful past.He *did* show he was trustworthy, not forcing Alasdair to reciprocate in certain things, not taking advantage when he so obviously could have pushed with more negative results, not simply overtaking just because he could [Alasdair, in his previous relationship, had been 'trained' so well that he often seemed to obey without thinking and without the will to do otherwise, even when it wasn't something he wanted to do]. In the end, it worked out and I felt a bit better about the situation. Still though, I keep tripping up over how their relationship started out and thinking it was less about them bonding so much as it was about Alasdair being desperate for a kinder sort of attention than he was previously given.
