I love Cynthia Leitich Smith. I seriously tell her that often on FB. I even took a pic with my favorite Smith book, Blessed. I finally got a chance to read this short story and I loved it. It's obvious that she writes shorts stories just as effectively as she writes novels. I'm happy I decided to read this finally. Haunted Love was an enticing and surprising short story, that just increased my need for Smith's novels. Now to get Diabolical. Hopefully, there will be more of Cody and Sonia in the future. I'd love to see how their future plays out.(Mini -review for Mera's YA Book List) This short story takes place in the same world as the Tantalize series. The main character Cody Stryker is struggling to hide what and who he is. Recently turned vampire he wants to stay in his small town and run the haunted movie theater in town.When the ghost who's been calm thus far begins to become violent against the other worker he begins to think things are more than they appear.Trying to fight his own inner demons while drinking blood in his office he realizes life might just be getting way more complicated than just turning into a vampire.This short story contains, a ghost, some vampires, a vampire slayer, and a life changing internet site.
