Heerlijk Oneerlijk: Hoe We Allemaal Liegen, Met Name Tegen Onszelf (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
As a book for my own reading, this gets two stars; as research which is quite interesting, I would give it four.I had the joy of taking a free online web class from Dan Ariely, so despite the fact that we have never met, I have that feeling as though I know him personally and am fond of him. He is a fascinating man, he does fascinating work, and I really do recommend this book to people who are interested in psychology and behavioural economics. His findings are worth looking at.That being said, it felt like a long book for not much content; perhaps because I am already so familiar with his work from the class, perhaps because his style is very repetitive in a way that makes for good learning (but is also familiar from the class). Regardless, in terms of the reading of it, I was not challenged or excited, there was not much to dig into, and so only the two stars. This was an interesting and entertaining book. I could see myself in some of the instances (!). The day after I finished the book, the author was to be a speaker at our library. We were disappointed when we got there that he was not able to attend. However, in his place he sent a young woman who had worked on some of the projects with him. She was fantastic, gave out chocolate, quotes and a stack of free books! Now I'll be able to read Dan's other two books. I think I'll take them to the beach. It's a fast read. Pick it up and see what you think. Human nature is quite interesting!
What do You think about Heerlijk Oneerlijk: Hoe We Allemaal Liegen, Met Name Tegen Onszelf (2012)?
Even better than the previous two, although he does rehash a lot from those books.
