Heir To Sevenwaters. Juliet Marillier (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
I liked Clodagh for the first half of the book, until she turned into a weeping damsel in distress. I'm going to finish this series because I need to see how it ends, but for those first starting, take heed: This is mostly trope romance with a dash of fantasy, rather than the other way around. The generally repeated theme of the Sevenwaters series seems to be: "16 year old falls in love at first sight with unsuitable man, they undertake a quest to prove their love, and then their family capitulates". The very first book of this series was amazing. If you are just starting, stop there. Just when I thought this series couldn't get any better. Going back to Sevenwaters and getting a taste of the enchanted forest again (and more!) was very refreshing after the Child of the Prophecy. I considered this book to be relatively like a new beginning in the series (but clearly a continuation) as Juliet Marillier brought something innovative and authentic to her novel which made it very captivating. Can't wait for the next book!
