Hell Is Other Parents: And Other Tales Of Maternal Combustion (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
Hell is not other parents. Hell was trying to get through this horrid book. I'm sure my karma was catching up to me from some previous life where I must have done something very very wrong. Where do I start? First of all, I swear if she whine one more time about how poor she was I was personally going to find her and slap the ever loving hell out of her. Poor people don't go to Paris for shits and giggles. Oh my bank account this and my bank account that?? Seriously? I doubt she would know what the lower class was even if she was hit by it. There was nothing funny about this book, it was not witty, edgy, or smart. I'm not sure if anyone could relate to her. It was nothing more than some crazy ass over indulged white girl that needed to bitch about everything in her life that never went her way. Blech..Go watch paint dry, it's much more entertaining! This is a collection of essays from a well-educated, mama of three in NYC. Even as a mom in SF, let me say, NYC seems to be quite a different place to parent. The essays contained some highlights, but they weren't all so much about parenting, or about interactions with other parents. I really wasn't very interested in the author's former relationships or her son's acting career. It was a fun and quick enough read, but I'm not compelled to sing its praises.
