Ruby is a gregarious little bird who has no trouble making new friends in her surroundings. She approaches all kinds of animals to introduce herself and finds different ways to befriend them. In the end, she finds a very special new group of friends and makes introductions all around. This is a sweet story about overcoming fears and learning how to make friends with all kinds of “birds”. Good for ages 3 – 6 I think that this book deserved to be considered for a Caldecott Honor. The pictures were colorful, added to the story, and beautifully drawn. The story was about a little bird named Ruby who was making new friends as she was trying to find where she belonged. This is a great story for children to read, because the illustrations are beautiful and the story shows that you can be friends with anyone. Great book!
