“What are we doing here, Patrick?” He leaned around her and pressed the doorbell. “I want you to meet my parents.” Simone gasped. “What?” She heard someone moving towards the door and she glanced down at her clothes. Black skirt, red top. Not too much cleavage. Crap! She would have done her hair better if she had known. “You should have told me!” She snapped at Patrick whilst inside she was so happy she could barely breathe. He had brought her to meet his parents! The door swung open and an older woman with a short haircut and Patrick’s blue eyes smiled at them. “Patrick! Come in, we were just about to serve.” Patrick opened the screen door and put a hand on the base of Simone’s spine. “Mom, this is my girlfriend, Simone. Simone this is my mom, Sue.” Sue’s eyes widened and Simone forced a smile to her face. Patrick should have at least warned his mother! “It’s so nice to meet you, I hope I haven’t inconvenienced you …” The woman recovered quickly and stepped back, waving them inside.
