Het Meisje Dat Uit Het Duister Kwam (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I found this book utterly fascinating. I literally couldn't put it down. It is so much more readable and inspiring than "A Child Called It", which is rabidly sought after by teens at my library.I was so taken with the story that I sought out additional info on the Internet. After reading the follow-up article in the Tampa paper from 2011, I was a little disappointed to see that the Lierows seemed to stress the positive in their book, leaving out a lot of the negative. However, the Lierows seem like amazing people who've done an amazing job of helping Dani, so I forgave them.I am INCREDULOUS that Dani's birth mother only got a couple of years of probation and some community service for her crime. What injustice! My neighbour had borrowed this book from the library and lend it to me. Back home I checked my kindle and I already had a copy (Dutch) on it so I decided to give it a try.Yet again I noticed that I really read faster when I read Dutch. Finished this book in 2 days. Start the day and finish the next.It was a very quick read even if I had read the non translated version cause it was interesting.Only thing I did not appreciate was the God talk. Why do they think it is all thanks to God that the child has ended up in their family but where was he when the child was abused? This edition it says the author is Diane Lierow but I am sure there must have been a real author who wrote this. Not sure what rating to give this book. a 5 because it was such a quick read. The author did not manage to go beneath the surface plus that is the thing with memoirs and biographies, people will always make their story better.Hesitating between 3 or 4. 3.5(added the real author)
What do You think about Het Meisje Dat Uit Het Duister Kwam (2012)?
An interesting story of a family adopting a special needs child.
