Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
Great reading. I first started to read this because I want to know about the pilot who safely landed a jet in the Hudson. It was sooo much more!Sully reminds me a great deal of my family. My family never had much, but a lot of pride in one another & what we could do. My dad built our home place when he & Mom were first married.I'll admit I cried a great deal reading this book, but it had little to do with his famous flight, more to do with learning what makes a man someone people respect.THANK YOU MR. SULLENBERGER!! You are an awesome example for us all. I don't know what I expected, perhaps just the story of how Flight 1549 came to land in the Hudson River. But this book is more than that. It's a rumination on excellence and doing your work well despite -- management. Capt. Sullenberger's story is how he focused on his work, even when working for "the man" would have made it easy to cut corners and give less. Bravo to him. A good read for any working person about dignity and the true meaning of work.
