Hip and Hop, Don't Stop is a fun, old school rap, inspired book. Hip and Hop are two rappers that are very different. Yet, when they first encounter each other, they found an instant fondness of each other. Despite what their individual groups of friends thinks of their likeness for each other, they came together as one and blew everyone away with their mad skills. Hip and Hop, Don't Stop! is a fun book that uses a lot of old school rapper references. It is very fun and clever, so it can be enjoyed by both children, and adults. The book is very up beat and it's also a great book to read together because of the style of text used. The book itself uses various types of writing style. There are thought bubbles, narrative type, etc. Hip the turtle is from Slowjamz Swamp, and he takes his time when he raps. Hop the rabbit is a super fast rapper from Breakbeat Meadow. When a rapping contest catches the attention of both rappers, they realize they have a lot in common. Will their friendship survive when they have to take the stage against each other at the big Rap-off? It may just be that Hip and Hop can teach their friends from the Swamp and the Meadow a lot about giving others a chance. This book's cute illustrations grabbed my daughter's attention right away, and the rhythmic raps were color-coded and fun to read. She wanted to read it over and over, and asked me to check it back out right after I returned it to the library!
