In 1941, when the novelist and screenwriter Curt Siodmak wrote the screenplay for a new horror film, nobody would ever imagine its impact on the world seventy years on. Everyone is familiar with his creation; the Wolfman. This story explores his original concept and replaces the horror with liberal doses of love and lust. Liane Cosa is a shifter. A shifter is the modernized version of the original werewolf. When Charlie Aquino first saw Liane he was lost. Over the next year he tried (without any obvious success) to form a relationship with this mysterious wolf/woman. Like all wild animals, trust must be earned and isn’t given lightly. Charlie is extremely tenacious and refuses to give up on Liane. One fine night, everything seemed to fall into place and the two consummated their love and lust. Herein follows your average man and woman/wolf love scene and sputters on from there. I must admit that Desiree Holt has managed to add a small wrinkle to the basic man/woman love/steamy sex scenario by adding the canine element. I was rather disappointed in Charlie for his short-sightedness in bringing only one condom. I think if he would have had the standard three-pack the plot would possibly have improved. This book is what it is and nicely fills a space in time. This was a good freebie. I liked the characters and the story. It was a little short and I would've liked it to have been longer since this was basically a scene with some background to flesh it out. It was sweet, steamy, touching, the emotions felt, and written well. I'd definitely like to read more in this series. This was a good quick read and great for pretty much anytime, preferably of the relaxing sort. A good deal (for no cost) and worth the time to read it. Enjoy!
