How To Ravish A Rake (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

Amy is a wallflower who has decided that this will be her last Season and is determined to get away from her unflattering reputation. She shares her dress design drawings and everyone loves them, therefore making her the fashion darling of the Season. Will, Hawk's younger brother, has returned home after years abroad with no profession, money, or ambition. He loses a bit of money gambling, and instead of pleading to his brother for help, he figures marrying an heiress is his only option. Will finds out that Amy is an heiress, but she doesn't fall for his charms, so he plans to compromise her in order for her to have to marry him, but he refuses to hurt her because he likes her. Will spends more time around her and after getting locked in a wine cellar over night, they are forced to marry. Through trials, time and a real courtship, the couple find more than attraction between them and begin a marriage for real. Great read!! Amy is trying to throw off her wallflower image. And she wants NOTHING to do with William "the devil" Darcett. However, Will wants everything to do with her. He finds her fascinating. After they both get 'stuck' in a strange position, they are forced to marry to keep Amy's reputation intact. SPOILER ALERT: Where the book gets really strange is when they're trying to be in a 'dating' relationship, and then there's a weird subplot where Amy is getting paid for dress designs and then ANOTHER subplot where Will is trying to cover up a gambling debt. Then it gets even weirder when the two of them FINALLY admit they love each other at the very tail END of the book. But then Amy 'leaves' Will because she finds out about his gambling debt and then all of a sudden in the last two pages of the book, they meet up and she 'forgives' him and they go back to their now happily married lives. Yep! It really didn't make any sense. Needless to say, I think I'm going to skip any future books by Vicky Dreiling
