I was really undecided about this one. On one hand I liked the H/H and the story. On the other hand, the author decided to switch from time to time from the time of the story to the time(s) before the story. Not only did she switch, she went into great detail. Each time was like a short 'prequel'. It was very distracting. I prefer the story to go in chronological order. I don't mind referring to the past. However, presenting it as another complete story was very distracting. I found myself skipping through a lot of them. There was the teaser about how the Heroine was ruined and then the story was injected in the strangest place. I am hoping the next story in this series will not be as obtuse as this one. I'll keep on reading, but it will not be at the top of the list. I enjoyed the story of Harriet Hathaway and the Earl of Roxley. Growing up together, “Harry” and Roxley were close friends. Their friendship grew into much more after they were grown. Thinking that he would ask her to marry him, Harry is shocked when she learns that he is to marry a Miss Murray. Harry finds that Roxley is being blackmailed into marriage to settle his outstanding debts. She teams up with him to find out who is trying to ruin him and why.
