I'm on the fence between 3 1/2 and 4 stars. I really liked the plot. It's not typical in that it's just about sex and control. Yes, there is lot's of sex and the hereo, Everett does take control when they have sex. But there is AN ACTUAL PLOT TOO! With other characters! I also like that he only takes control during sex. Outside of the bedroom Joy is her own woman. Everett does not boss her around. I find this to be much more believable. I loved the heroine, Joy. There is something that's not mentioned in the blurb that makes her act the way she does. I won't get into specific's but it's what makes the plot unique and I found that it really made me appreciate this book and brought validity to her character and her actions.I liked Everett. I didn't love him but I liked him. Sometimes more than others. ****** Non-plot specific spoilers *********The thing that keep me from giving it a full 4 stars or a 5 stars for that matter was the sex. They had sex a couple of times when it was kind of off to be doing so. The 2nd to the last sex scene at the end of the book when she shouldn't of been doing it at all and in reality wouldn't have wanted too. And he got up and left her really abruptly twice after sex ( of some kind) and it left me feeling coldly toward him. Both times happened in the beginning. Their 2nd and 3rd sexual encounters respectively and it took me a while to warm back up to him. I like a slow build relationship and they just jump in and start having sex and have very little else for quite sometime. If it wasn't for that I would have loved this book. So it starts off so-so for me but warms up and ends hot. At one point I did shed some tears. I would definitely recommend. Kery does not disappoint. I really enjoy how she can write a very erotic book that has a story, a plot, character development and is very satisfying to read. Joy discovers she has lymphoma and goes to work as a makeup artist that same day. Her subject and she share a very erotic experience that is largely based on her need to affirm her life. She then moves away to go through her treatment. They accidentally meet again and sparks fly. Everett is entranced by her and the ensuing story is wonderful.
