I'm Bad! (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

Yep. It's a kids book. Before you crack the spine, two things will happen: your kids may beg/plead/bribe you to read it again and you'll have to explain to strangers why they're confronted with devilish grins, asking, "Are you bad?"This tale of a buck-toothed carnivore brings to life the sights, sounds and silliness of dinnertime in prehistoric suburbia. Imagination runs rampant. Adjectives fly off the page. For example, our favorite friend asks the reader: "Are you bad? I'm REALLY bad. Scare-the-tails-off-all-the-other-dinosaurs BAD. Got rip-'em-up CLAWS. Got bite-'em-up FANGS. Bad breath? YeaaaHHHHHHH." How great is that? Before you deem him too scary, remember that this little guy holds a soft spot for his Mom. (And it really is the perfect Mother's Day book.) Don't be surprised if at the end, you smile with delight and beg/plead/bribe your kids to listen again. Memorized by all, this wacky-wordplay must-have gaurantees to illicit smiles and surprises. The creators of I Stink and I'm Dirty, the stories of a garbage truck and backhoe respectively, now turn away from trucks and to another very popular subject: dinosaurs! Here we meet a T-Rex with plenty of attitude, showing off his huge teeth, big claws, stomping feet. But he becomes less impressive as he tries again and again to catch something to eat. It takes his much larger mother dino to come to the rescue with "takeout." In this book the McMullans continue their trade-mark dialogue style that will have readers flexing, brandishing and showing off with abandon. It is impossible to read their books aloud without style and a new persona. This makes them not only great fun to read aloud, but mesmerizing for audiences. Equally successful are the illustrations that fairly pop from the page with greens, oranges, blues and plenty of action too. The words and illustrations have obviously been created together because they work effortlessly together. Highly recommended as a staple in your dinosaur story times or units. Appropriate for ages 3-6.

What do You think about I'm Bad! (2008)?

Kind of cute. Someone told me it was really cute. My 6 year old and I were not too impressed.

It was okay. My son enjoyed it but not as great as I'm Dirty, I'm Fast or I'm Stinky.
