I was given these two books in exchange for an honest review. I was immediately hooked when I first started reading Runes. I honestly didn’t read the summary so I had no idea what I was getting into other than it being a YA Fantasy and being intrigued by the title and cover art. The main character Raine is very likeable and relateable. Her best friend Cora comes across slightly annoying in the beginning and I was afraid she would become an issue (I’ve had to stop books before because I just couldn’t take a side character) but I came around to liking her. The boys are both great characters Eirik is so sweet and his story is a real twist. Torin is most girl’s fantasy boyfriend who also has an interesting back story. Both are very likeable and I wouldn’t want to be in Raine’s shoes. After a few chapters I started thinking the series would be similar to the Mortal Instrument series with the runes however despite having a few small similarities this series is completely different. I love the tie-ins to the Norse mythology. I actually found myself pausing to look things up while I was reading. The romance side to these books is one that is very frustrating because if you are like me you just want to skip ahead to them being together. The book has a nice balance between the romance story-line and the main fantasy story-line.I’m trying not to give anything away because I absolutely loved these books. They were a fast read (mainly because I couldn’t put them down) and I’m planning to purchase the rest of the series so I highly recommend them. Ok I gushed over the first book in the series, but this one is just the same!! I couldn't put this one down ei. I read both books in two days! In Immortals, Raine finds out some big things about her and her friends. She gets her trainer, and gets some of her own runes. But she also has to get Torin to fall in love with her again.I was so surprised the whole time I was reading this book. I was totally rooting for Torin to come around and remember his feelings. I loved this book, and can't w to read the rest of the series.
What do You think about Immortals (2013)?
In my opinion, mediocre follow up to better developed 1st book in series (Runes).
