Reviewed by Terri N.Book provided by NetGalley for reviewReview originally posted at Romancing the BookHeart pounding, blood pumping, on the edge of your seat, with a twist is how I’d sum up Impulse.I was so excited that this book picked up exactly where the first one left off. The energy from Obsession carries through to the first half of Impulse and then things just get more interesting. In Impulse, Jess has to face the demons of her past. One has plans to love her and keep her close. One has plans to bring her to her knees. Through it all Jess is able to come out on top and save the people she cares about.I thought this book should have been the one named Obsession. Jess has an obsession with the Player and the killer has an obsession with Jess. When the killer gets personal by getting close to Jess’s family and friends the reader can really feel her emotions and know how hard it is for her to put aside her emotions and do her job. In the end only Jess’s ability to think like the killer was able to save the people she loves. This book has a twist I didn’t see coming until right before it was revealed in the book. I always figure things out so I was pleasantly surprised. There are a couple of parts that were predictable but not so much that they took away from the over all excitement of the story. It’s hard to really review this book without giving away the wonderful plot twists and interesting thing that happens at the end with Jess and Dan. Just believe me when I say that you will not want to put this book down. I really enjoy this series and I want to finish them all but I have OCD with my books and will not read them right away. I like that Dan and Jess's relationship actually developed in this novel, they aired out their grievances with one another and are going to try again. The end of the last book showed Jess's friend Laurie kidnapped by the player. In this novel they are rushing to find her because the player never lets any victims live. It was definitely a page turner not only to find out what happens with Laurie but with what happen's in Jess and Dan's blooming relationship.
Moves at a steady pace. Never dull. Satisfying ending. Looking forward to starting book 3.
