Rage The story picks up when the wife of one of Birmingham's finest is brutally murdered in her home with a baby sleeping in the next room and the only witness Devon, is an eight year old autistic boy. Frustration is kicked into high gear for Jess and her team as they try to figure out motive behind the murder of a women who was liked by everyone. Excellent!! Just like the others "Rage" so full of excitement it was hard to put it down. I look forward to the next in the series. True to form, this book starts off days after the previous book ended. There is still MS-13 activity, though not as heavy as I would have thought. The previous book led me to believe that there was going to be a serious gang war, and while it was referred to several times, it didn't seem as bad as I thought it was going to be. Jess has 2 cases to work on in this book - the murder of the wife of a fellow police officer, and the disappearance of an autistic little boy named Devon. I really liked the parts involving Devon, he was really sweet. Chet and Lori make some choices about their future, Jess is starting to think about her future with Burnett. I am hoping she becomes what she keeps thinking about (I won't even mention it or hide it in a spoiler. You can read for yourself...) Jess has a new apartment, a space above the garage of her landlord Mr. Louis. I can't wait to read more about him, he is one of those characters that you just aren't sure of. We are led to the killer fairly early on, although it isn't explained how or why until the ending. I also really liked the conclusion concerning Leslie and Devon, that was a really happy and uplifting ending for such a violent book. This is book 4 in the Faces of Evil series, which will consist of 12 books. Obsession, Impulse, Power, and Rage (1-4) are available now, Revenge (5) will be available in July, Ruthless (6) will be available in August. I recommend the series and will be reading all the way through 12!
