This book (the second in The Last War trilogy) is a worthy follow-up to First Contact.As usual the characters are great, both the progression of old characters and newly introduced ones.The greatest thing about these books is that you don't know what's going to happen. Not crazy plot twists, to the right and to the left, but just plain unpredictability in the line of the story. This is really great and really makes you want to keep reading.It's a stand alone novel, but I would start with First Contact (book 1).If you're into Sci-Fi, this is a must read. If not, you should read it anyway. :-)Book 3 is already waiting on my Kindle. A good follow on to the previous book. There are a few new characters introduced and interesting background provided, but the overall story just doesn't seem to feel like its moved forward. The book seems just like one big chapter. Maybe the next one will have a more conclusive ending.This book should probably not be read independently and needs the previous book to provide story context.
