I found this book to be not only an easy read but very entertaining as well. Watching MW help commentate races, his personality is large and steeped in humor and that comes through in his writing as well. Many moments found me chuckling out loud while learning his story of racing and eventually leading up to "That Day." I laughed and I cried while getting an inside look to the ways of racing, personalities and the emotions that come with both. Thought is was a great read. This book is a way-too-easy read; it lacks depth and conviction. It's almost as if Waltrip was afraid to be seen as too intelligent. The only other explanation I can come up with is that he and his co-author don't trust the intelligence of the NASCAR fan. Too bad, because at times Waltrip comes across as a very astute self-observer; the book could have been better served with more of those insights.
This is a great book about the Michael Waltrip's career and the day Dale Earnhardt died.
