What do You think about John's Story: The Last Eyewitness (2006)?
Poorly Written. Most of the book merely quotes Scripture, then tosses in a bit of commentary, and for flavor, has the Apostle John complaining about everything around him: his room, the city bath, the food, his aches and pains, and even John's best friends aren't spared from his almost constant criticism.I had hoped for a good, detailed read about John's life. Instead, this book skims over John's life in a frantic rush to re-present the gospel of John and the book of Revelation all over again in

This is a wonderfully written novel, by Tim LaHaye. He takes literary efforts to bring us a story of how John's life could have been, The last disciple of Jesus Christ, finished out his days. The story begins with John imprisoned and after being boiled in oil and surviving, the story takes you through his life as a teacher. He mentors and keeps the church going while preaching to others of the time. The story takes place around 95 A.D. which places John in his 90's. I highly recommend this series, known as the Jesus Chronicles, which is a series of 4 books.

Well....I read all of the Left Behind series and found it very engrossing. It had good mystery elements, good religious elements, good history and projection elements. It was heart-pounding excitement and a great series for the approach to the millennial year 2000. But as with all millennial years, the end of the world did not come, so after that it lost its gloss. LaHaye has a very fundamental religious base and he really presents it in John's Story. There is more direct evangelization in this book than there was in the Left Behind stories. It took away from the ease of reading, particularly if you don't always agree with LaHaye's outlook. It turned me off from reading the rest of the books in this new series.
