Exhaustion taking its toll, Jillian fell into a deep sleep along with the children after a meal of freshly caught trout. Loud voices roused her to semi-consciousness. She tried to shake off the cobwebs of slumber, sensing a strong need to wake up. Something pinged her cheek. Then again. She brushed a hand over her face and over the blanket. Pebbles? There were tiny round stones on the bedding. Was she dreaming? Disoriented, she jerked her eyes open. Early morning light filtered through the mist.
