Kick-Ass 2 Prelude: Hit-Girl (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

HitGirl was instantly my favorite character when she appeared in the first KickAss book so I was excited to read a book dedicated solely to her and not whiney KickAss. It was a quick read, only 4 chapters but very entertaining and I caught myself chuckling out loud to some of Mindy's one liners. You follow Mindy try to navigate junior high and just trying to be a normal girl while also keeping her nocturnal activities of going after the Genovese family a secret from her mom and cop stepfather. The story kept me entertained and of course plenty of violence. This is a direct sequel to Millar's "Kick Ass". Picking up where it left off, it focuses this time on the character of Hit-Girl and her difficulty fitting in at school, and her relationships with her mother and stepfather. However, as we have come to expect from Millar the comic is full of graphic violence and gore. Hit-Girl was always a master assassin (unlike Kick Ass himself)and so her self-appointed missions allow her to dispense with the bad guys in efficient and ever more creative ways. It is great to see her character developed more, and don't we all wish we could do to a bully what Hit-Girl does to deal with a queen bee in her school. Red Mist also makes an appearance and his character is developed more too as he continues on his path to become a supervillain. This comic is followed by Kick Ass 2, and a fourth and final installment from Millar. Chronologically you need to read Hit-Girl before reading Kick Ass 2.

What do You think about Kick-Ass 2 Prelude: Hit-Girl (2013)?

It's crazy, a child who actually is a psychotic mass murderer can be a comic "hero".
