Kitty Rocks The House (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as some of the others. The plot was fine, just didn't seem as exciting as the previous books. In this one Kitty is back home in Denver running the pack as best as she can when a new wolf appears on the scene, claiming he wants to join the pack. Only Kitty thinks there's something not right with him - he's good looking, charming and appears to want to please, but he just doesn't want to follow the rules. When he makes a bid for the position of alpha, it's not a great surprise. There's also a new vampire in town - a Catholic priest vampire who makes Rick realise some things he hadn't thought about for a while. When Rick goes AWOL, Cormac decides he's going to try to work out what is going on in the old church he is staying in with the help of the local Detective Hardin. Only what they find is not really what they were expecting. Not a lot happens on the Roman front and he doesn't actually make an appearance at all. However the threat is always there. I just felt that this book was lacking in something - the build up to the climax just wasn't as strong as it normally is. I do wonder if the Roman storyline is getting dragged out a bit now and it needs to speed up to its conclusion. While interesting enough to read, nothing happened in this book. If it were a TV show I would label it as a "filler episode". There seemed to be no progress made in this book for the "Long Game" arc except to tell us that there was someone commanding Roman. That took a whole book? No, the rest was filled with how stressed Kitty is, and how her pack feels she needs to take better care of them. This whole "Long Game" is taking too long.
