So if you are a diehard history buff, or even diehard historical romance buff, a lot of the language, phraseology, and word choice in this read will tick you off. Because there is the most definitely a modern edge. I've been reading the historical romance for years. It's one of my fave subgenres of romance. So the language didn't bother me all that much, but the words that didn't "belong" did jump off the page. However, I absolutely love the story. I love the world, I love to see dragons, and I am 100% interested in knowing what happens to all the guys. I really loved this book. I absolutely love Xavian. Of course he's hot. I love how Afina changes becomes a stronger person. The pacing was a little slow, but considering there was so much going on it probably was necessary. fantastic book. Fantastic new series. I can't wait to read the next book! This was a wonderful surprise. Was going through my TR samples and this one grabbed my attention immediately. The author's voice sweeping me into the world she created. Along the lines of the dark ages with sorcery and mythical elements, and a lot of action. Delightfully gritty and fast paced. Nice character and relationship build, a tale of underdogs that's endearing and addictive. Loved the twist and turns the book took. Cannot wait to read the next.
