Newly dumped insurance claims investigator Tammy Roberts is sent to Alaska to investigate why three trucks belonging to Beark Enterprises have been reported missing. And from the moment she sets her feet in the remote town, she suspects something is wrong. Shapeshifter Reid Carver, owner of Beark Enterprises and Alpha/clan leader, does not appreciate having to deal with a nosy investigator. He's got a supernatural uprising on his hands. But as soon as he sees her, sparks fly. As an Alpha, it's his duty to mate with another shapeshifter, for political reasons, not love. Yet, the moment he sees this weak human woman, his inner bear knows the truth, Tammy is THEIRS! Worse still, this cute little woman can't help herself: Whenever wildlife appears on her doorstep, she defends herself with anything she can get her hands on, frying pans, fists, rifles. Not a good idea in a town where wildlife might wear clothes, but animal instinct rules the heart.Eve Langlais's books are always funny, always entertaining. And while I much prefer her Welcome/Princess of Hell series, I still get my ROFL moments from her shifter series. 3.75 stars, rounded up, because I love Eve's work! :-) This is my first book from Eve Langlais. Oh boy have I chosen a great start.Kodiak's claim is hot, hilarious and has drama. Reid the Kodiak bear, meets Tammy the human. His bear is interested in her from the start, even if the man is a tad bit slow on the uptake. Tammy seems to have a knack to catch Reid in awkward positions and always injuring him. Tammy doesn't know about shifters at all.So as the story unfolds, you can imagine her emotions. But there are some drama and well you got to come find out how this sassy city girl stand up to a Kodiak bear who will move the earth for her...Now, we need Jan and Boris please!!

A fun read with a feisty heroine. Frying pan and buckshot anyone?
