This book, I thought, had a lot of promise when I read the blurb. However, I personally, think it was lacking something. I don't know if it was just because it wasn't what I expected or it was just that the narrator had more opinions than I'm comfortable with, but whatever it was, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. That being said, it was still a good book - it was written (and translated) well and I honestly liked the idea of this librarian finding out someone has been locked in the library all night and then just telling them whatever is on their mind. I guess I'd give it 5/10. I wouldn't read it again, and I don't think I'd recommend i to *many* people, but definitely see that there's a certain type of person tat would enjoy it. This is a very thin book. Having said the obvious, I can say that it was intriguing, and it seemed like everything was said in one breath. It's paradoxical and funny and serious and silly. It's also sad. But the truth shines through the sadness, the longing, the extrapolating. The librarian is relatable because who amongst us has not begrudged our superiors or pined for someone and not have that someone share the intensity of our feelings? The book talks about plenty of things, which is wonderful because even though it's short, it has depth and substance. It will trigger memories, emotions, dreams and ambitions. It's so much in such a thin package. Well worth the read :)
