Lady In The Mist (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

GACK - I really did judge this book by the cover and thought it would be a LOT better than it turned out to be in the end. This author must think her readers are idiots. She repeats and repeats information. Really? I didn't get it the first time I read it. Made it very tiring and I managed to skim it nicely. ALMOST turned to the last chapter about 1/2 way through but stuck it out. Wish I had jumped ahead. If you like romances, which obviously I do not, you might like this. This was a book club pick. Since it is not something I usually gravitate to, I was pleasantly surprised in the beginning when the plot of the story was shaping up. Then...it got to be too much with the back and forth between the characters and their struggles with faith and whether or not God was with them or had a plan for them. Don't get me wrong, I'm Catholic and have faith in God - I just don't need my fictional characters to be holy rollers. I enjoyed the writing, save the banter about God and the characters were fairly well developed. Religious overtones aside, the story fell apart for me towards the end. It was fairly predictable but just when the story was getting intriguing, there was a whole lot of prayer and a whole lot less plot, leaving the story to be tied up all too neatly. It had potential. Oh well. At least it wasn't the other Lady in the Mist book I mistakenly thought was the book club pick - I read that one first and it was a thousand times worse than this one!

premise was good, but for some reason I just had a hard time keeping interested.

Other than a lot of recap of what they were feeling, this was a good story.

This book was ok, but it was mostly long.
