The beginning of the story was so engaging I started adding the other books even before I started reading the rest of the book, I just knew it would be good!!I was hooked from the prologue and the book didn't disappoint at all. I loved catching up with Lana & learning her story; a pretty good catch~up on what happens to the high school's most popular student, & it doesn't always have a happy ending.Much like Lana I thought she was the one who delayed getting married, but nope she was the second of the three in the prophesy. She was actually pretty good as a character, she was strong but very vulnerable, floundering in knowing who she was after a relationship that was devastating. Finding herself means giving up all she was known and comfortable with, & going all in with everything she has to make a better life for herself and her son.In walks her old love, her first love, the bad boy, Sloane who became a cop & man oh man do the sparks fly. I loved that their love wasn't perfect as soon as they met, they had to work at it. Lana was a woman who had a hard first marriage & isn't trying to make the same mistake. She fights hard not to dive in and give up her freedom, or her independence, but wants a relationship, she has to learn how to balance being able to lean on someone and just giving up completely to someone. She lacked confidence in herself & her decisions & saw anyone's help as a threat to her independence (even when it wasn't)Sloane was an amazing character, he is more comfortable relating to people as a cop than as a man, because he has never known what it is to have someone love him down to his bones. He's had a pretty tough life until a good man took an interest and gave him something to strive for. Even though he had done everything he wanted coming home to Destiny & finding Lana there brought him back to those teenager years after she broke up with him. He had his doubts as well but still he made the decision to go full throttle especially with Lana's son Rob. Sloane was an amazing role model in that situation I felt so deeply for him when his incident happened. I'm glad it brought them togetherI enjoyed the story, even though there was a moment after Rob got into trouble that I wanted to slap Lana for her reaction; eventually she got her head on straight but still it took an eight year old for her to see it; out of the mouths of babes is all I can say. I loved Sloane as a character & Lana was pretty good as well. the ex husband wasn't fleshed out, but then he was only a background character anyway. I wanted more about her friends and I can't wait to read Millicent's story especially ( I mean have you seen that cover??) Enjoy the read my loves
I will be absolutely honest here and tell you that this was a very hard read for me. I liked the book and its not bad by any means. I just could not connect to Lana. I tried, I really did, but I just could not do it. As a struggling single mom myself, I could understand her stubbornness of making it on her own and not relying on a man for certain things. But Sloan came across like a very decent man from the start and her constant doubts about his intentions really grated on my nerves.From the beginning I liked Sloan. He was a very open and caring man who only wanted the best for Lana and her son. Each time they came together I liked him a little more. Again, Lana not so much. I found her inner thoughts to be repetitive and annoying. She kept thinking the same thing over and over. I saw her as overly defensive towards Sloan and at times I just skimmed directly to dialog. Through the dialog I could better understand what she was rambling about. Her insecurities were more relatable to me and her reactions to Sloan were more realistic. However, in the end, I can honestly say that I could see her point in hesitating. I just don't think that it should have been brought to the surface so much. The writing was very good in the sense that each character was developed fully and the dialog was very interesting. I am glad that the author did not bring them together sexually right away, it would have been extremely unbelievable to me even if their chemistry was palpable from the start. I liked the storyline brought into the story, it really made for the growth of the characters and gave great insight into them.All in all, a good read. I just like to connect to my main characters, so it bothered me that I could not do that with Lana.

This read was of two (Lana and Sloan) people who had been love for around three weeks during their senior year but that soon ended and each when on there many ways until ten years later. Now, we find that Lana is divorced from Bart, her cheating husband and has a eight year old son and struggles daily to get by taking care of her son (Rob) and doing all of this while getting her college education. On her way to her friend, Callie's wedding Lana has a accident and she ends up in a ditch and this is where Sloan Bennett enters back in to her life. Lana finds out he is now a police officer. A lots has changed from Sloan's 'bad boy' days. What will happen as we see that these two people still love each other but will have a hard time trying to work out those feelings to each other. This is where I say you must pick up "Lana's Lawman" to read the outcome of it all. The characters were all very well developed that gave the reader an interesting drama and also giving you a well written novel that I would recommend as a good read.

It was the classic 'bad boy' who shouldn't been seen with the 'good girl' scenario. That three weeks ended when Lana realized she couldn't handle the intensity of feelings she had for Sloan, so she broke up with him in a way where Sloan thought it was because she thought she was too good for the likes of him. All though that couldn't be further than the truth, she felt it was better for him to hate her for the lie, than him know she loved him with every bone in her body, but just couldn't be strong enough to follow that path yet.After the break up, at the school fair, Lana's two best friends, Callie and Millicent, drag her to a fortune teller's trailer who's not on the list of scheduled vendors. The fortune teller gives ominous fortunes for the girls in regards to future husbands, and then gives them souvenirs to match the future husband clues. Lana gets a little policeman's badge, and she can't help but think that the little toy is in the total opposite direction from her bad boy love.Flash forward ten years later. Lana is divorced from a cheating husband and has an eight year old son named Rob. She's struggling to get by, take care of her son, and go to school to get her college education. As she's headed to Callie's wedding in the pouring ran when she has an accident and her car winds up in the ditch. Who shows up to save her? Sloan Bennett, the police officer. What follows is a frustrating story of two people who love each other, but have a hard time working those feelings out. Not to mention that they spend ninety percent of the book practically pushing the to other away (mainly Lana due to her fierce need for independence after her crappy marriage), just to finally have that light bulb moment at the end where they get tired of fighting that love.It was a nice read, but I will admit that I felt it could have been expanded a bit to make it a fantastic read.
