Room number six was directly below Mary Ann’s bedroom and she knew the moment Luke left Arina’s room. He’d been with Arina a long time. It annoyed her that he had accompanied her to her room in the first place. She didn’t know why Luke’s actions were affecting her, it wasn’t as if she didn’t know what he was like. She walked to her window and watched Luke take the buggy to the livery. She was still standing there waiting to see him ride out of town, but when he left the livery he rode back toward the hotel.
