I read Street Magic, the first book in the Black London series, over a year ago. I bought this book right away but my reading wanders and I dont always get right back to a series, even when I like it. I liked Street Magic and this one worked for me too.Jack and Pete are back and are now in business together, but Jack has secrets and he's keeping them to himself to "protect" Pete. When they first met Jack made a deal with a demon for his soul and the debt is coming due. Pete sees so much more is happening in The Black, but Jack can only see his own obligations and the fact there is no getting out of the deal. There's no good end to the story without them trusting and helping each other, and then it gets complicated. There's a ghost story here, and an exorcism for a house, throw in a murder and a coven too. Why not? I like Pete much better then Jack, but its probably the way Ms Kittredge wrote it. Both are people that live in and hang out in places I want to visit again. I also like the writing, a lot, I'll probably try another of her series sometime this year.(again I have the book but it takes me a while to wade thru my reading pile)Worth a look if your a urban fantasy fan, and an author to look in to too. Book 1 of this series, "Street Magic," is good, but "Demon Bound" revs things up into the land of greatness. Jack Winter is the perfect protagonist for this edgy, tense and slightly twisted story -- a rude, crude survivor who redefines the role of the hero. Author Caitlin Kittredge pairs her oh, so complex characters with prose that is nothing short of whiskey-soaked, razor-edged poetry. The result is a tight, fantastic story that brings Old World magic into the gritty slums of the modern era. This is not the typical urban fantasy -- "Demon Bound" packs a brass-knuckled punch and keeps swinging from cover to cover.
What do You think about Le Pacte Du Démon (2014)?
Starting to become bored. There are enough jerks in this world. Why make up another?
