Le Parfum De L'automne (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

There I was going along, enjoying the prim and proper good girl trying to tame the ultimate bad boy. Of course things aren't always what they seem, poor bad boy so misunderstood and she's really not THAT much of a prude.I liked getting to know Gail and Simon. The back up crew was a mix of "just let me slap that____" to OMG what a geek! There were heart warming moments and the falling in love was so....so....so confusing, maddening, frustrating, funny, embarrassing. What killed this book for me...the ending. Let me explain that, it's not what happened but how. An ending that went from 0 to 250 in 40 or so pages. Three major events in 40 pages and BOOM, it's over-thanks for coming- please come again?!?!?! Was the author bored or was the deadline that tight? Now wondering if I want to read anymore in this series. Maybe in a wek or two, once the sour taste has left me, I'll see if the local library has the rest of the series. I liked this story, which is the first in the Whiskey Creek series. We get introduced to the small town and many of the friends who still meet at the coffee shop. It's this small-town background that allows Gail DeMarco to stand up to megastar Simon O'Neal when he starts down a path of self-destruction after his divorce. It's ruining his career, his chance of ever seeing his son again, and his health. Gail is his publicist (or used to be until she told him to take a hike and he started ruining her business). But she still feels he's worth saving, so she agrees to a wild scheme to clean up Simon's image. He's going to marry a down-to-earth woman and get straightened out in some unknown backwater--namely Gail and Whiskey Creek. The falling into sex part seemed to happen too soon, but there was a reason for it. I also thought the ending was a little rushed and wrapped up too quickly. Overall, it's a good book, and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

PR publicist marries Reprobate actor to save both of them... really cute story... nice chicklit

Kind of boring. To many words used to describe situations. Get to the point.

Enjoyable read and I will look at the rest of the Whiskey Creek series.
—Senyn

A light easy read with a typical romance plot. Perfect for a sick day.
