Andy doesn't need to work. He is very picky about the cases he will take on, but he rarely forgets the cases he has tried. One of those cases is a mobsters son that was convicted on a double murder. Evidence has surfaced that may show Joe is innocent. Andy digs back into the case and once again is finding out more information than he wanted. Arms dealing and more murders. Andy is so good at his job, maybe to good when it comes to defending criminals. I like these mysteries but find it hard to believe that every case Andy takes on, rolls into a more complicated case, involving spies, mobs, terrorists, etc.Listening to the stories keeps me coming back, however they seem to be getting more of the same thing with different characters. It was OK. I wanted to like it more, but the superficial nature of the writing (so I'm guessing the author was going for breezy, even jaunty pehaps, but what I got was superficial) just detracted from my experience. The plot wasn't bad and things moved along - a bit too quickly, really - but all the characters were cardboard cutouts. There wasn't one, good guy or bad guy, that was believeable. While I'm glad my book club is reading this, as I got to try a new author I'd previously been unaware of, I'm disappointed that it couldn't make it to the all important, "Gee, I'd try another one by this author!" level, because I'm pretty sure I won't...
What do You think about Leader Of The Pack (2012)?
Interesting style of writing. Easy-to-read mystery NOT about a pack of dogs..........

Again, this is a great series. Grover Gardner is perfect for the narration.

I will read any Andy Carpenter book, a real "feel good" book.
