A mother frog tells her little one that he (she?) can leap frog over many different things (ladybug, clover, beavers, mountains, and more) as long as he leap frogs right back home to her. This is perfect for one-on-one sharing with a parent or other caretaker. The illustrations are cute, and kids will love reading this over and over with mom or dad. With the rhyme and repetition, even very young children will be able to memorize much of this book and "read" it aloud. Rhythmic language use. Definitely a preschool/ kindergarten read aloud. The plot demonstrates how you can venture away from Mom but can always come back. The baby starts out leaving home for a ladybug but ends up leaving for the stars but always comes back to his mom. I wish that the last line had kept with the pattern response. The last line was a bit jarring, especially as by this time the kids were responding with the line Leap Back Home to Me. I won't be adding this to our collection but it is wonderful if you have younger children. This was my grandson's favorite when I read aloud to him.
What do You think about Leap Back Home To Me (2011)?
Pair with "Froggy's Fable." Or can be paired with first days stories to trying new things.

Cute little book that would be good for a frog storytime. Very simple.
