Mac goes out to run a few errands and we go back into the house. Brenna has decided to stay overnight again. But this time, I don’t mind because Maggie is in such a foul mood that I can’t imagine this would be our Girls’ Fun Night anyway. In fact, Maggie grabs Sherlock’s leash as soon as we get in. “I’m taking Sherlock for a walk. I’ll be back soon,” she says as she walks out the door. Brenna and I look at each other. “Do you think she wanted one of us to go with her?” I ask. Brenna shakes her head. “I doubt it. She would have asked. I think she needs to blow off some steam.” “With Sherlock?” I ask. We both laugh. That basset hound won’t get very far before he just lies down. All of the Vet Volunteers have had experience with this because we’ve all tried to walk him. When Sherlock decides he’s done, he flops down and is immovable. Immovable. As in, no possible way to go anywhere until he decides to stand and walk again.
