I admit the alligator on the cover got my attention, but this was no killer alligator attacks small town story. I read halfway and wished it was. Amy Lane is another one of those PROLIFIC writers of this genre who manages to write 5 novels a month. Maybe slowing down and investing more time into character development and plot construction would help, but the fans seem to want certain key elements, and Lane delivers. Although at one point I did find the casual "blog" style writing with lots of swearing captivating, it's starting to get on my nerves. Too many writers are using that style and it makes me wonder if it's due to lack of talent. 2.5 starsI found the narrative and character conversations in this story really disjointed. I'm not sure if this disconnection was cultural (not being from the US) or simply my inability to follow what was going on. Regardless, the story didn't flow for me, and I just couldn't connect to the MCs or even really pin down their personalities. Their actions seemed contradictory on occasion - more so Carson than Dale.
Short, amusing, endearing, light, hot read by Amy Lane. Perfect quick read for a summer afternoon.
