Les Chroniques De Mackayla Lane - Fièvre De Lune [bande Dessinée] (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
Like 99.9% of people who purchased this, I am a complete addict of KMM's Fever series: the world, the characters, the story. Does Fever Moon scratch that itch? For a moment, and not with a lot of satisfaction.First of all, the art is your standard Comics 101: sex kitteny women written for the male gaze, mega 'roided men with laughable physiques, and monsters who clearly had more love and affection poured into their creation than anything in the book that's human. It was impossible for me to get past that and diminished a bit of my love for Mac (who here contorts into impossible positions in order to lovingly feature her heaving bosom, glossy parted lips, and wide-eyed CFM gaze - ugh).Related to the above, there are inconsistencies in this universe vs the books. I'd read them and have a "yeah right" snort...the one I'm remembering right now is Mac sleeping in a filmy/flimsy negligee on a couch in BB&B, which she wears to answer the door of the store in the middle of the night. Come on. Also, descriptions of V2 Barrons and the Hunters were seriously off. There are a couple of genuinely great things. The writing, of course. Putting the writing to panels of illustrations made me smile...seeing scenes play out, how the players react, etc. Cute. And it was better than nothing. So.Fever Moon: Better Than Nothing. While in no way canonically correct, I absolutely adored Fever Moon. Yes, the story was so-so, but the artwork... the artwork was just superb. Beautiful. I've seldom seen any of my favorite literary characters rendered in such loving detail. Barrons and dreamy-eyed guy were perfect. Mac was pretty, although I believe she should have been portrayed with dark,not blond hair at this point, and with less pink clothing. The dark princes were awesome, as were the other Unseelies. If you look closely, you will also find subtle clues regarding a recurring character's not-quite-human nature, and certain... ahem... man bits, were cleverly hidden from view in some of the panels. Cute! My only complaint is the way the artist chose to portray the Seelie princes. When I fantasize of hauntingly beautiful, eons-old, arrogant Seelie royalty, I would never ever... E.V.E.R envision them as Fabio clones. Ugh! Canon-wise, the timeline established in Fever Moon did not coincide with the five novels, but I was too busy admiring the artwork to really care. I was really tempted to give this novel 5 stars. But in truth, the Fear Dorcha plot was rather lame, and I really should detract a star because of the canonical errors. (Barrons's beast, the creation of the dark princes and Mac's clothing and hair color, the color of Unseelies intestines, just to mention a few mistakes.)The artwork: 6 stars The story: 3 stars.Overall: 4 stars, even though I really want to give 5, errors be damned!

I have no idea how to rate something like this because it's so far outside my usual realm. The drawings were great... Yay for the artists! But the story didn't feel new, it felt like something I've heard before. Is this fear dorcha guy in one of the books? It felt very familiar. Anyways, the story for me was just meh, but it was fun to see an artists interpretation of the fever world, particularly action scenes and the fae-human interactions at Chester's. I kept giggling when I imagined the artist guys having to read the fever books and then figure out how the heck to draw it all. They did a pretty awesome job, even if Mac looked like a porn star and Barrons was like Steven Segal. Dreamy Eyed Guy made a brief appearance and he looked the most like what I picture in my head. Really liked him. Not sure what else to say. This is a comic book version of a Fever novella, telling a quick and relatively inconsequential story in the Fever world. It didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, it was just interesting to see the visual interpretation. R-rated at times though, don't let your kids pick it up. Fair warning.

I didn't like it was like a comic book, I want more Jericho Barrons in a regular book!
