Leto (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

This is a very dramatic book, filled with captivity, terror, deceit, and more terror. An intern finds out what is actually happening at a lab that she works for. They are using human test subjects and trying to get to the solution of what makes Skinwalkers different from regular people. Well naturally the intern objects, but she makes the mistake of threatening to tell the authorities instead of just going ahead and doing so. She is captured, then later rescued. Most of the story takes place after she is rescued. She is mistakenly assumed to be the life-mate of one of the captured Skinwalkers. The Skinwalker knows that isn't true, she knows that isn't true but that assumption is the only thing keeping her safe, even as it drives him rather out of his mind. This is a very dramatic, and fascinating story. Again, captive paranormal creatures hold no interest in me so I will not be persuing this series. If you can get past the captivity this is well worth reading. The story was ok, but they need to fire the editor. The wrong your/you're is used, breathe instead of breath, world instead of word...it totally disrupts the flow when one trips over one of these errors in vocabulary. Not unlike tripping over a crack in the sidewalk when enjoying a walk through a cozy neighborhood. The sex scenes seemed immature, almost crass. Perhaps I'm just spoiled with the likes of Nalini Singh, Caris Roane, and J.R. Ward. Fortunately, I didn't spend much on this book.
