Life, Love, And A Polar Bear Tattoo (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
I don't like reading romances that involve cheating, so there wasn't much for me to like here. Candice basically spends the whole book having an emotional affair with Kegan. Her husband Ian is away for work for a month, and Kegan is an old boyfriend who she's now working with. Candice recounts how horrible Kegan was when they dated, so the fact that she keeps falling all over him is annoying. She comes across as weak and self-absorbed. There wasn't enough about Ian to get to know him, it would have been helpful to see more of his emails. Kegan was arrogant and pushy. Larissa was the best character, telling Candice she was acting like an idiot. She was! There were too many mundane details that made me want to skim. After really enjoying "Seven Exes Are Eight Too Many" this one was a disappointment. Loved this book. Saw a mention of it on Twitter and thought it had an unusual title, so I checked it out. The blurb seemed good and it was free, so I 'bought' it. Great story. I was hoping the author wouldn't fall into the old clichés and wondered throughout how they were going to sort the character's mess out and was very pleased it was so well done. Boy meets girl, boy hurts girl, girl meets good man and gets married. Marriage hits the rocks and old flame reappears... Now read on. :-)
