This book is a clever testament to the people involved. I absolutely adored the artwork...that paper cutouts were amazing! Also, the colors that they used were beautiful and eye catching. The telling of the events that took place there was also very well done. It honestly was inspiring. I think that this book is great for children because it can teach them about love for people of every culture and background. I love this story because it has some wonderful lessons about helping others, being kind, and keeping a promise. Most of all it is amazing because it is a true story of how a man was traveling and became lost, but was saved by some villagers who did not have a lot of resources. I loved how that community came together and helped him to build a bridge so that the could bring some materials back which allowed the villagers to have a school. There are so many reasons this book is a great read aloud and it is great for social studies in regards to the villages heritage and the location of their village.
Art is incredible. I think I am burned out on Greg Mortenson.
