Ölüm Elçisi (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

My biggest problem...I don't read series one right after another. I started this one and was a little behind in who was who and what was going on. I quickly caught on and was enjoying the story. Madeline Black collects souls when they die and shows them the "door". Meanwhile, she has angels, faeries, werewolves, and Lucifer (not to mention his children) wanting either something from her, or her dead. A lot of action. I started this series because my lists of other authors wont have any new books out until later. I am so glad that I did. The only thing bad I can say about this author is that her books are all short around 205 pages. That is the only downside. Her heroine is snarky, opinionated, loyal, and is badass without having a giant chip on her shoulder. I love all of the supporting characters and their interactions. There is enough sexual tension to cut a knife without being overly all about relationships. I like a good sex scene as much as the next person but I want a plot and some mystery. These books have almost all the same pieces as what has become norm in this genre without seeming trite or overplayed. She has a mystery parentage but you don't have to wait till book 5 to figure it out. She works as a death dealer, delivering souls to the other side but is more than ready when her true nature and "destiny" comes in to the picture. There aren't chapters about outfits, ammo, or new characters which I appreciate. You get a good mental visual of what is going on without having to read through pages of monotonous descriptions. Henry is refreshing and entertaining. I read books 2 and 3 all in one setting till 4am because I couldn't get enough. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys urban fantasy or paranormal romance. Keep in mind this is not paranormal erotica, if you are looking for that check out Laurell K Hamilton, or a list of many others. If you want to be entertained, while kept on the edge of your seat check out Christina Henry's Black Wings series.
