I'M SO FOND OF THE "CHARACTER IS BLACK AND WHITE UNTIL THE POWER OF BELIEF AND/OR IMAGINATION AND/OR LOVE TURNS THEM COLORFUL" TROPE. I LOVE IT. I looooooove it. And this book executes it so well!Morris is really charming and all I aspire to be in life. The illustrations are wonderful. The ending could have/should have been totally stupid, but they pulled it off.Good job, William Joyce! This book is beautiful. The illustrations are fantastic and the story is just so full of emotion. This will be a book that I display proudly on my shelf and read often. If you love books... love reading them, love getting lost in them.... please please please get this book. Do yourself a favor and get the actual book not an e-reader version. Splurge and get the hardback version too. You will not be disappointed. You will want to hold and hug this book.
