I often question why I'm still reading The Walking Dead comics. They're just as boring as the show oftentimes. And there are way too many insignificant characters to keep track of when you have to wait so long between volumes (who the heck is Gregory again???). Plus it feels like the story is really going nowhere/in circles by now. It's just dragging on. And how exactly do you end an apocalypse story that essentially has no plot? No end goal?But the addition of Ezekiel in this volume is what saved it for me, and maybe I'll look forward to reading it now. He seems interesting and unique. However I'm getting sick of seeing all these rapist villains in every new plot development. It's like, okay, we get it: the world's laws are thrown out the window during the apocalypse. But please stop resorting to rape, it's starting to get excessive and uncomfortable. Especially some of the dialogue of Negan. Like, okay. We hate him. You can stop with the disgusting trash now. I agree with other readers. Negan is oddly entertaining in this volume. As we meet more community leaders, Rick seems the sanest of the bunch. Compared to the Governor, Negan, Gregory, and Ezekiel, Rick is the closest thing we have to the normal everyman.But is that an aspect to recommend him?It's served him somewhat well thus far, but it brings up the question of how long a logical man with a Kill Only When You Need To attitude can survive in this mad world. How long can he keep those around him breathing? Is thoughtful planning any match against pure sadism, egocentrism, or insanity?
