This was a very thrilling yet very sweet read.Elise (Elle) was left orphaned as a teenager after her parents and younger sister were murdered in their home. She is now the sole inheritor of her father's company and is a very wealthy young girl.She is very shut off however, there is no shine in her eyes, just a dull sadness that lurks around the edges. She has just moved into her new apartment to begin college after living with her aunt & uncle whilst she finished high school.On her first day she meets Brax, a drop dead gorgeous guy who for some reason seems to wants to be her friend. Elise isn't that experienced with guys and finds herself slowly opening up to Brax. She is very attracted to him and a feeling of warmth and safety seems to overwhelm her when she is with him.What Elle doesn't know is that this isn't just a chance meeting between them. Brax has been sent to protect her from people who mean to cause her harm. He was not expecting to fall for Elle though and he just can't deny what he feels for her, how much he wants to be with her. Elle finally has a reason to smile again, he has brought light back into her life and pulled from the dark place she had been existing in.The whole way through this story there is a dark thread of fear weaved into it. Someone is after Elle and will stop and nothing to get what they want. Some people in a position of trust seem now that they are not to be trusted at all. Brax is put in a position where he has to make a heart breaking decision but it has tragic consequences. And that is where the books ends in and OMG cliffie moment but luckily this is a complete series and you can read on to find out the fate of these two :) I read all the sneak-peek snippets and excerpts and happily purchased a kindle copy once released, it really did sound like a book I’d fall in love with.But I found Lost in Distraction to be very slow. The story really didn’t seem to move along and I found myself skimming over pages, and the constant POV changes and time jumps, ugh, not a fan.Sadly, I also found the writing juvenile and repetitive, and the over use of stale endearments like ‘my dear’ and ‘darling’ became annoying and I had to give up after approx 60%, I just couldn’t bring myself to continue.I REALLY wanted to like this book but it just wasn’t happening for me, and as much I want to support a fellow ‘Kiwi’ with a great review, it just isn’t going to happen unfortunately.One for the DNF pile – 1 star.
