Love, Chocolate, And Beer (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I've read all of Violet's books and they are all fabulous. She always has the right mix of humor, romance, suspense and heat. While reading this book I wanted to drink beer and eat chocolate. Luke is a chocolatier and Dani is a brewmaster. As far as I'm concerned this is a match made in heaven. They meet one night and are instantly drawn to each other. Luke is a hopeless romantic and Dani is afraid to love again. They decide to try to make it work and they have a lot of obstacles to overcome. I love the secondary characters as well! I can't wait for the next in the series!"I went from thinking 'pants on fire' to thinking about your pants.""Oh s !" Luke whipped Dani a caught-fugitive look. "Dani, baby, it's time. I'm heading to the border. Come and find me one day." He jammed a hasty farewell kiss to her lips and took off running."I know. I think you and your parents are contagious. And my immunizations are wearing off." Love, Chocolate, and Beer is the story of Dani and Luke. Set in Arizona, in a quirky town just north of Phoenix, author Violet Duke brings together a cast of characters whose lives intertwine in pursuit of their own happily-ever-afters. Dani is a brewmaster , Luke is a chocolatier. With Valentine’s Day approaching, Luke’s newly relocated business is trying to generate an all-new clientele, while Dani’s business is focused on good beer and fun. A misunderstanding leads these two to create a contest to determine which business is a better bet for the romance of Valentine’s Day. From the start, Dani and Luke have chemistry, but their path to love is rocky (this is a love story, after all!). Dani doesn’t believe in the power of love and romance, while Luke is a romantic all the way. Their families, friends, business partners and employees provide lots of laughs, all while individual issues and their pasts are unraveled and resolved. The author does an incredible job of weaving back-stories into the fabric of this book. I learned a lot about making beer and fine chocolates, and felt as though I had made a whole new group of friends. I highly recommend this book. You will love this one!
