That was a beautiful romance between two men who suffered and yet never gave up. Add to the mix a sick kid and the drama ensues. There is no archenemy here, no angst caused by a misunderstanding or lack of comunication. This is a story about struggling against a terrible illness, told from the point of view of the family and friends.I loved Patrick and the ways he kept finding in talk without talking. I loved Ken and his devotion to his daughter. Hospital workers and the neighbours were also awesome. I really like the books with disabled characters. And this was one good story. Andrew Grey is the love child of Disney and Hallmark. Seriously this man can write books that will tug at your heart strings and wrap you up in a feel good happy ending. Reading his books is like a cup of hot cocoa, a warm blankie and wool socks on a cold winter night. The books wrap you up and you tight.Ken is an artist, single father of Hanna, and starting over in a new. He is also living every parent's worst nightmare; Hanna has cancer. Ken is lost and overwhelmed. Fate sends them Patrick. Life has also dealt Patrick some blows. He was a singer and has lost his voice. Patrick and the town rally behind Ken and Hanna and make sure that she has an early Halloween and Christmas. It reminds us that the simple act of caring for and about others is a miracle all its own. Also, you should never discount the healing power of a good mac and cheese.
