I laughed so much reading this book! Toots cracked me up and definitely made me think of my mom and her mother in certain things (though neither is into smudging, seances or some of the other stuff Toots is). This is only the second book of the series, and thus the second book of Herron's that I've read, but she really captures people and brings them to life on the page. I feel every emotion, big and small. I laugh, I cry, my heart aches. There is no doubt I'll be continuing on with this series! On Audio. I loved this series. It is unfortunate that I ended up reading them out of sequence (1-3-2) but each story can stand on it's own, it is better with the Eliza background in order though :) I loved the main characters Lucy and Owen and I loved their families. Lucy's bookish brothers and open-minded eccentric parents made this book really great. The side story of Owen's mom and her Alzheimers was sad but very well done. I wish there were more Cypress Hollow books!!!
I needed a "moose-drool" book for knee surgery recovery, but it was even too boring for that.
