Lumberjack In Love (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I picked this book based on a friend rec and the cover (heading off to the snow for a few days) It was a quick read and this is just what I was looking for. The storyline started off really strong but then slowed down some what. A sweet story about a city girl, who finds herself unemployed and single. Visits her sister who lives in the country and struggles with missing her city comforts. That is until she looks a little closer and finds not all is what it seems. Her sister looks out for her and like most good sisters, 'helps' her to find 'happiness'. This doesn't go unnoticed but it is taken in good spirit. Fun interaction as she sees the beauty and sincerity surrounding her. This is a great holiday read with likeable characters. Thanks for the rec Stacey! (Apr) Ok, I don't have a "so frickin' cute" shelf, but if I did, this would be at the top! It was just a lot of fun - Ami was a bit of a hardass but not obnoxious, Marcus was just too cute (and manly-hot) for words, and the story, while short, packed in plenty - arguing, love, sex, humor, quirky townfolk - the whole shebang! The freebie epilogue on PW's website was icing on the cake. One minor complaint - how come in most small town contemporary romances someone (usually the heroine) from the big bad city comes to a small town in the middle of nowhere, and manages to fall in love with the town and live happily ever after? Does that really happen? I'm a suburb girl, born and raised, and could not, would not ever want to live in a small (2000 - 10000) person town - or live anywhere where there was not a Target or a hospital or whatever within 15-20 min!! One thing I always liked about the historical romance The Viscount Who Loved Me was Kate and Anthony both flat out loved living in London - the country held no appeal to them except for short getaways. One of the few books I can recall reading where the city was actually shown as being preferable to the middle of nowhere!!
