I have been wanting to find graphic novels that are suitable for my third graders, and I think that books from this series are destined to be popular amongst the students in my classroom. This particular book from the series begins with the children having to join the Mathletes club in order to make amends for something they did on a school field trip (I am assuming Book #6 explains more about this). They make it to the final Math Bowl Championship, but there is something fishy about their opposing team who has won the competition for over twenty years. This book is action packed, and the Lunch Lady (along with her sidekick, Betty) help to solve the mystery behind Willowby Academy and their suspect winning streak. I have a feeling that the boys will especially enjoy the superhero elements throughout. I must admit this book made being a mathlete seem like it has the potential to look and be cool. I loved that this book showed that being intellagent is something that shoulf be celebrated and shown off to the world. I mean when I was a kid i loved maths but i never let anyone know i loved it. I thought it made me a "geek". This book shows that being smart doing "nerdy" things can be fun no matter what other people think about you or so. I think thats why i love the Breakfast Bunch. They dont let the kid who trys to bully them get them down they continue to do things they love and enjoy.
Another great entry in the Lunch Lady series. Great for reluctant readers.
